Emmanuel Jal was born in Tong, Southern Sudan, the war-torn country but it is not clear when. He believes that it was in the early 1980s. Removed from his family home in 1987, in six or seven years, he was sent to fight alongside the rebel army in Sudan’s bloody civil war. For almost five years, it is “child Warrior” thrown into the battle with a AK-47 larger than him. At the age of 13 years old, he is already a veteran of two civil wars and sees hundreds of child soldiers reduced to the practice of horrible abuses, struggling to survive on the mass graves in South Sudan. After a series of traumatic events, he is rescued by a British humanitarian worker who does smuggle in Nairobi to give it a new life. To ease the pain of this long period of his life, Emmanuel started singing gospel rap. significant plea for peace and sanity.
